Pinterest Project #6 - Red w/ White Polka Dots Jar Lids
Pinterest Project #6 is Red w/ White Polka Dots Jar Lids...
I think these are super cute and fun to make! I love to reuse jars, and these are Spaghetti Sauce jars. I have never thought of painting the lids, though. I saw similar painted lids on Pinterest and thought that this would be a nice touch! We eat a lot of pasta around here, and I store all of our noodles in glass jars already (I prefer glass containers as opposed to plastic). I also make my own spaghetti sauce sometimes, and keep it in these types of jars. In my pantry, I have pasta jars for elbows, shells, penne, and spaghetti. I used to get so irritated because the spaghetti noodles were always too long and so threw a kink in my pantry organization... then I realized, I break the noodles in half when I boil them anyways, I can break them beforehand and they now fit perfectly in the pasta jars!
So to make these, I first spray-painted the lids red. I used Krylon's Banner Red gloss spray paint. After those were dry, I used a pencil eraser dipped in white craft paint (by Plaid) to make the dots. Use a random pattern and vary the size of the dots. Be sure to put some dots on the sides of the lids as well!

You can make your own labels for jars, too. It's amazing the difference that a pretty lid and a label can make! Even though these were quick and easy to make, they make such an impact in the pantry!
